ABC.....Attorney Barnabus Collins...the resident Bidding Board Attorney and lawn mower blade specialist. Author of "The Nastygram Templates".
AUCTION EXTENSIONS (AE).....This is a feature of some online auction houses, whereby the auction is extended in the last minutes if bidding activity continues. It is also regularly proposed as a "solution" to sniping by anti snipers. I will let this link of Terrythetrolls explain more eloquantly than I ever could Why Autoextensions won't work on ebay.

He ended up breaking the BB for about 30 minutes while Katy came to the rescue and cleaned up the mess. From this day forward all clones shall be referred to as "brooking the BB"
BUMP.....To move a post back up to the beginning of the posting list by just posting "bump"

NASTYGRAM.....An abusive email sent to you by a losing bidder. Snipers are most often the targets. They are best ignored or dealt with with a smarta$$ email back (see ABC: The Nastygram Templates"). If they are particularly abusive report them to abuse@ebay.com.
NEG.....Negative Feedback
NEWBIE.....New ebay user.
NEWBIUS NIBBLIUS IGNORAMUS.....Scientific classification for the sub species of ebayer popularly known as the newbie. At their very best they are eager, conscientious and willing to learn. At their worst they can wander the ebay wilderness clueless for months. If they find the Bidding Board they are very lucky newbies indeed. If they stumble on some other boards they are in danger of becoming Krispy Kritters.
NUCLEAR SNIPE.....This is a very rare occurence. Most snipers bid their true max. But occasionally a couple of idiot snipers (a very rare breed) come along and bid an outrageous amount in the last seconds. Their bids meet and the result is a nuclear snipe. The proxy battle raises the price to an unbelievably high amount in seconds. Nuke snipers have very short lives on ebay.
NIBBLER.....A bidder who makes tiny incremental bids and many many of them to outbid the next bidder's proxy.
NIBBLED TO DEATH.....What happens to your proxy bid once a nibbler has done with it.
NO BALLER.....Someone that bids below a known reserve or nibbles and quits before reaching the reserve.
NR.....No reserve
NWT.....New With Tags
NUMPTY.....Evbay's word for idiot. We all love it and have adopted it.
NURKEY.....One who nibbles early in order to stake his claim on a widget and warn other bidders that they have a rival, the way a tom turkey will strut around the hen to warn off other toms. Often two or more nurkeys will get so caught up with focusing on one another, nibbling away and flashing their tail feathers, that a sniper tom can waltz in and swipe the hen widget from right under all their beaks. The nurkeys may then flap over to the BB in a squawking frenzy.

PARASITE BIDDER.....A bidder who follows you around and users you as a personal shopper by doing a search on your bid history. This can be avoided completely by learning to snipe your auctions.
PDA.....Penny Dutch Auctions. A despicable style of auction where the sole purpose is to buy feedback to pad your feedback history.
PEBCAK.....Problem Exists Between Chair And Keyboard
PINKS.....e-bay employees who grace us with their wisdom every now and then.
PINK SLAPPED.....When you have been reported to and subsequently warned by, an ebay employee (see Pink, pinkie)
PREMATURE BIDULATION.....The overwhelming and uncontrollable urge to place an early bid even knowing it will get nibbled away by other bidders, ultimately leaving you unsatisfied.
PROXY.....The way ebay recommends you bid. Bid once and bid your absolute maximum. Let ebay's computers do your bidding for you.
PUT SOME MOXY IN YOUR PROXY.....Make it your absolute TRUE max.

RIGHT ROYAL REAMING.....Come to the boards ranting, raving, typing in CAPS, accusing, acting trollish and belligerent and this is what you'll get. Come and ask politely and you'll receive in kind.

SECRET DECODER RING.....fictional "join the club" ring bestowed on lurkers who come in and share their super first snipes with us.
SEAGULL POSTER.....a poster who flies in, drops their rant on us and flies away never to return
SEAGULL BIDDER.....Like the seagull poster, this bidder flies around the listings dropping bids on items then never comes back to check the results.
SCRUM OR SCRUMMED......A descriptive term for the kind of relentless bidding war that occurs in some auctions. All bidders desperately nibbling at each other to try and maintain top spot. SH.....Safeharbor. Where you go to report infractions of any and all kinds
SHILL BIDDER.....lowest of the low. A bidder who uses another id or friends to bid up their auctions for them. It is illegal and will get you NARUed from ebay proven.
SNIBBLER.....Coined by our resident sheeplover, kiwi_lawrie. This refers to newbies who, out of sheer dumb luck manage to place what at first looks like a snipe, but is actually a desperate last minute lowball nibble. A contraction of snipe and nibble.
SNIPE.....(see time conscious proxy bidding) A bid placed in the last seconds of an auction.
SNIPER.....Lives by the credo Bid ONCE, Bid your ABSOLUTE MAX, Bid LATE.
SNOWBALLING.....Like "Snibbling", this is also a contraction of lowballing and sniping. The bidder places a lowball bid (see lowballing) then will come back and snipe the auction at the end. This term was coined by Snipe_To_Win, who admits to practicing this form of bidding from time to time. Why?... We have no idea.
SPEEL CHUCKER/SPILL CHEEKER.....The ebay spell checker and it's eccentricities.

TIME CONSCIOUS PROXY BIDDING.....see sniping. This is the PC version of the word.
TROLL.....The bane of the Internet. A poster who's aim is to cause havoc and chaos often using multiple ids. They start fights then sit back and watch their creation. Ebay trolls are particularly bad as they can go on and interfere with the auctions of their victims.
TROLLOCITY.....Coined by Padmé Amidala. This is the level of trollish behavior displayed on the Bidding Board on any one time. For example "The trollocity levels are extreme/high/moderate/low tonight"

ZERO SECOND SNIPE.....Yes! It is possible, is the latest word from the ebay computers techies. A snipe that will register with the same ending time as the auction. BINs do not apply.
