Can
I increase my proxy bid?
by sir_snipes_alot
You can increase your proxy bid at any time, by simply
going back to the auction page and entering a new
proxy bid in the bidding box, and confirming your
bid.
If
you are the leading bidder and increase your proxy
amount, your current bid should not change. There
are however, a few situations where this will not
hold true, and you could see your new proxy bid raise
your current bid.
-
If
you were winning by less than a full bid increment
- your bid will increase by one full increment
-
If
you were tied with another bidder, but leading
because you had place the earllier bid - eBay
will increase your bid by one full increment to
keep you in the lead, since by entering a new
bid, you will have lost your position as earliest
bidder
-
If
you are bidding on a reserve auction and your
new bid meets or exceeds the reserve price set
by the seller, your bid will immediately jump
to the level of the seller's reserve, any remaining
proxy amount will be used to fend off future bidders
Sir
Snipes Tip: Before confirming any
bid on eBay review the confirmation page very carefully
- looking for misplaced decimal points and incorrect
bid amounts - every bid is considered to be a binding
contract.
