definition: Placing
a bid in the closing minutes or seconds of an auction.
Who Can Snipe?
Anyone is able to use this method to win an
auction, eBay states that any bid placed before the
auction ends is "legal". Experienced eBay
buyers use this method often to insure better chances
of winner their prized possession.
What is Sniping?
Sniping is the act of waiting until the last
possible second to place a bid. Basically the snipers
goal is to become the highest bidder in the last secounds
of an auction preventing others from having enough time
to bid again.
Does Sniping Always Win?
- Nope, not all the time. Since sniping is
very precise and happens within seconds of an auction
ending if something goes wrong you lose. Your computer
can freeze or reboot, the power can go out, eBay could
have a 5 second "glitch", you could forget
about the auction or get the ending time wrong there
are lots of variable that could effect the out come
and since this is your only chance to bid it's "all
or nothing".
- If some one has a higher maximum bid then you are
done for. It doesn't matter how close you leave your
last bid if it isn't the highest then you won't win.
Is there an easier way to snipe?
In this day and age there is always an easier way. You
can use automated bidding software that will do all
the hard work for you. All you do is load up the software
and enter your top bid and it will do the rest. Right
from logging in to placing the bid in the final seconds.
